The New Year is here and with that comes the infamous resolutions. What is a resolution? A firmness of purpose. Statistics show that around 45% of adults in America make at least one New Year's Resolution each year, among the top of those resolutions are weight loss and exercise. Only 75% make it past the first week and only 45% are left standing after the first few months pass. How do we avoid losing motivation and failure of achieving our resolutions? We must give ourselves the best chance of success by obtaining the proper tools and putting in place a support group to help us with our follow through. That is exactly what Erin and I have done. First we picked our goal. This is one of the most important factors in beginning your fitness journey because you need to know what you are working towards and setting realistic goals will help you keep motivated. Our goal is to lose 5% body fat and obtain overall health and fitness. Second we had to decide on a plan on how to achieve our goal. We decided to use CrossFit workouts, cardio exercise, and group classes at the Fit Stop. The CrossFit principal is stated as, "Constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement." Our cardio workouts will be done on treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, and stair steppers. We will also be trying out different group classes at Fit Stop which include kickboxing, lifting classes, yoga, and much more! Nutrition is going to play a major factor in our success. We are not following any fad diet or weight loss gimmick. We plan to eat lean and clean, have a cheat meal here and there and fuel our bodies properly for the grueling workouts ahead of us. DotFit is one of the best online nutritional and virtual trainers on the market. This is where we will track our meals and activity. As a FitStop member you have access to the $120.00 membership for free. DotFit will help take the guess work out of our weight loss and nutrition. We are a week into our workouts and it is obvious that the two most important factors to this formula are SUPPORT and ACCOUNTABILITY. When the alarm goes off at 5am in the morning and all I want to do is hit the snooze button, I remember that my workout partner is going to be at the gym waiting for me to arrive. This is what motivates me to peel myself out of that bed and into those workout clothes. Whether your goal is to lose 10lbs or a 100lbs it requires the same dedication and motivation to follow through. We will keep you updated regularly through out our journey and we will address the good, the bad, and the ugly.
